Rosénka - history

How did we develop

Rosénka The children folklore ensemble Rosénka was established under the District Cultural House in Prague 6 – Břevnov in autumn 1982. It was founded by Mrs. Radka Baboráková. Originally only one group of thirty-five children at the age of 6 – 10 years was meeting. The training dealt with games, counting-out rhymes, songs and dances from Uherskohradištsko region and connected environment.
Children were meeting in the Cultural House Kaštan twice a week and in this location the ensemble had been active for 23 years. Gradually, due to big interest of children, Rosénka had to establish other groups and dulcimer music was also founded. Huge support in arrangements of performances, trips and festivals was provided by the House of Army Prague and the Folklore Association Rosénka.

In 1996 the adult group Big Rosénka was established besides the children part of the ensemble. Such a little bit not traditional development was given by the fact that the grown-up children did not have any other place in Prague where to continue, and the new promising generation of good small dancers was after their position.
The Municipal part Praha and also the Capital Prague was represented by the ensemble in many important domestic events (multiple presence in International Folklore Festival in Strážnice and Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, then in festivals in Luhačovice - Central European Children Folklore Festival, in Vlčnov – The Ride of Kings, in Kunovice – International Folklore Festival The Kunov Summer, in Tuchlovice, Kroměříž, Zábřeh na Moravě, Veselí nad Moravou, Dýšina, etc.)
The success of the ensemble is being proved also by a number of invitations for performances abroad, where gradually both children and adults participated. (Hamburg, Nurnberg, Otmuchov, Rome, Terni, Pavullo, Trenčín, Martin, Východná, Nitra, Ismailia, Salo, Badajoz, etc.)
