Barbara Lukešová

Barbara Lukešová studied acting at the Music and Drama Department of the Prague Conservatory.
During her studies, she performed as a guest actress at the National Theatre, the Realistic Theatre, the S. K. Neumann Theatre, and A Studio Rubín. After graduating, she began her professional career at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec. She later returned to Prague, where she was engaged at the Rokoko Theatre from 1994 to 2001.
At the same time, she performed with the English-language theatre group Misery Loves Company at the Kolowrat Theatre, at the Na Prádle Theatre, at the National Theatre, and from 1993 onwards also with the Kašpar Theatre Company, where audiences can still see her today.
She has also appeared in other theatres, including the City Theatres of Prague, the Řeznická Theatre, the Celetná Theatre, and the Komedie Theatre.

After a longer break from acting, she returned to the stage, though no longer in a permanent engagement, performing as a guest at various Prague theatres. These included the Dlouhá Theatre, La Fabrika, the Řeznická Theatre, among others.

Barbara Lukešová is also active in film, television, and radio. She made her on-screen debut as a conservatory student in 1986 in the TV play Šaty až na zem (“Floor-Length Dresses”). She has appeared in numerous television productions and acted in around ten TV series.
In Czech cinema, she is best known for her role as Anežka in the film Vojtěch, Called the Orphan (1989) and as Eva in Žiletky (“Razor Blades”, 1993).
She also frequently appears in foreign productions. The Italian film Bruccio nel vento, in which she played the leading female role, won six awards and received seventeen nominations.

For her role as “A” in the play Terminus, she was longlisted for the Alfréd Radok Award in 2013.
In 2024, she was nominated for the Theatre Critics Award for her performance as Mary Tyrone in Long Day’s Journey Into Night.

Since September 2024, she has been a member of the Dejvické Theatre ensemble.
