Marta Ljubková

She studied Czech language and literature at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and dramaturgy at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU in Prague. Since graduating, she has focused on dramaturgy and literary criticism.

She briefly worked in a full-time position at the West Bohemian Theatre, then spent several years as a freelancer, collaborating with various directors in both classical drama and alternative theatre in cities such as Prague, Ostrava, Zlín, Hradec Králové, and Cheb, where she also served as the dramaturge of the One-Actor Theatre Festival.

In 2012, she began working at the National Theatre, first as a programme editor, and from January 2014 also as a dramaturge. With the arrival of Daniela Špinar, she became the chief dramaturge of the Drama Ensemble, a position she held until the end of the 2021/2022 season.
Recently, she has also been active in dance dramaturgy and was involved in the cultural centre Vzlet, known as the “cultural crossroads of Vršovice.” She occasionally publishes literary reviews in the journal Souvislosti.
